REVIVAL THEATRE: THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW

The Rocky Horror Picture Show isn’t the type of movie you just watch — it is meant to be experienced.

Considered a cultural phenomenon by many, it continues to seduce audiences and has become a vital part of Hollywood’s vast entertainment scene.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a forbidden sugary snack that satiates the hunger of those individuals with even the most voracious appetites, leaving them smiling and satisfied. And for the curious, more innocent patron it will provide the opportunity to shed inhibitions for a few hours, and embrace that often-times repressed inner wild-child. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to face yourself in the morning—depending, of course, upon whether you choose to become a participant in the debauchery, or simply remain a wide-eyed observer.

Stripping participants of their inhibitions and fears, The Rocky Horror Picture Show is a "strange journey" that will leave a lasting impression.

The film is about a newly engaged couple that have a breakdown in an isolated area. They must pay a call to the bizarre residence of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a transvestite. While there—taunted by temptation—Brad and Janet ultimately give-in to their carnal desires, embracing a world unlike anything they have ever encountered before.

This scandalous show invades theatres everywhere on a regular basis, drawing swarms of fans from all over to revel in Rocky Horror’s raucous exhibition.

Thanks to INSOMNIAC CINEMA!’s creator and host, Andrew Gualtieri—and Regency Theatres—The Rocky Horror Picture Show screens at the Regency Buenaventura 6 theatre in Ventura, California the second Friday of EVERY month at midnight with a live shadow cast. Tickets are $9, and you must be at least 18 years of age (or over), or have permission from a guardian, in order to attend this salacious spectacle.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an outlandish, crazy film that is fun to see on the big screen—but needs the energy of the crowd to really bring it alive.

With help from the TooMuchCoffeeCast (http://tmcc.rhps.org . . . www.facebook.com/TooMuchCoffeeCast), the necessary energy required is generated to create an experience attendees will never forget. Filled with shocking shenanigans and naughty behavior, it will be an outrageous evening and a night of pure bliss.

The TooMuchCoffeeCast (TMCC) is Ventura County’s only Rocky Horror Picture Show cast. After a long road, filled with ups-and-downs, they finally found a home at Regency’s Buenaventura 6 theatre. Welcomed with open arms, the TooMuchCoffeeCast has been performing there for the last few years and recently have been added to INSOMNIAC CINEMA!’s film screening line-up EVERY month. Thankfully, the “lips” are singing once again. According to their website, the cast “has some great additional treats in store” for the upcoming months, and they state that they have “returned with a vengeance in 2011.”

INSOMNIAC CINEMA! (IC!) is a weekly film series, in connection with Regency Theatres, that currently screens classic movies EVERY WEEK in Agoura (Regency Agoura 8), Ventura (Regency Buenaventura 6), and Pasadena (Regency Academy Cinemas).

The Agoura and Ventura shows begin at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the Pasadena shows begin at midnight on Fridays.

For more information about current and upcoming shows,
you can log on to IC!’s website (www.InsomniacCinema.com),
Regency Theatres’ website (www.RegencyMovies.com),

or follow on Facebook (www.facebook.com/InsomniacCinema) or
Twitter (www.twitter.com/icupdates).

INSOMNIAC CINEMA! brings film fans the opportunity to experience movies they never saw before, or experience once again favorite films from their childhood or a memorable time from their life. It is a wonderful service that Gualtieri is providing, and hopefully more people will attend the screenings.

Having seen The Rocky Horror Picture Show when there was only a handful of people in the theatre as well as having experienced it with an excited crowd and live shadow cast, I can honestly say that the only way to get the full impact of this cultural cuisine is to don your sexiest or craziest costume and embrace the insanity that is Rocky Horror. Live it up, people!! Let go—and have a little fun. Stop worrying about what everyone else is thinking, because I can guarantee you that the only thing they are thinking about is how much fun they are about to have—and how wild the night is going to get.

So, go ahead, get your costume on—or off—and go on down to the Regency Buenaventura 6 theatre for a romp with Rocky Horror!! "It's wonderfully weird . . . It's fabulously freaky . . . It's The Rocky Horror Picture Show"—and it is a show you certainly don’t want to miss.

"I would like, if I may,
to take you on a strange journey."
